Description

Completely Private Setting while only Minutes Away from Downtown Douglas
Escape to nature at Woodlands Cottage. This charming century-old cottage nestled under the trees in Douglas, MI rests on a beautiful four-acre tree-lined property filled with old majestic Pines and Maples. While wonderfully secluded in a serene forest setting, this quaint little country cottage is only a short bike-ride away from downtown Douglas, the Dunes Resort, and Saugatuck.  Woodlands is tastefully decorated in modern-cottage décor that includes art work from the Saugatuck region. The main floor features a full bath and the king size bedroom, upstairs there is another full bath with two bedrooms.

Relax with your morning coffee in the porched-in dining room while looking out into the woods, or relax on the back deck and soak up the sun, or build a fire and relax with a glass of wine under the century-old Maple on the patio. Enjoy the sound of the wind rustling through the forest while watching the regional birds visiting the bird feeders, and don’t be surprised if you catch a glimpse of a deer or two passing through the grounds.

The Fall season is a beautiful time to stay at Woodlands cottage. The foliage on the property and in the Saugatuck/Douglas area begins to change as early as late September and the color continues through to the end of October with the peak around the second and third week of October. The house is also redecorated for the Fall with decor and art from local area businesses.
NOTE: During the peak season (Memorial Day-Labor Day) we only accept weekly rentals. Unless, the property is available 2-3 weeks prior to arrival.

We had a really great time at the house, it was so close to town (not walkable) but far enough away that it was really quiet. The yard was just perfect. We had a campfire each night.

Four acres, nice outdoor living space. Keyless entry. We were able to get away without any human interaction. Grilled in the yard each night. Ate in the gazebo. It was a nice change of space.

This place is super charming and the beds are very comfy! We enjoyed watching blue jays and chickadees at the bird feeders and admiring the surrounding nature! We had a hard time calling lyfts, ubers, taxis. So keep that in mind!

My friends and I loved the outdoor space at this property! We ate breakfast on the porch each morning and watched many birds visit the birdfeeder. A short ride from downtown Saugatuck. We loved Mitten Brewery and the Southerner. We drove to both Oval Beach and South Haven's North Beach. A highlight was the Star of Saugatuck sunset ferry ride. The property had several amenities and was comfortable for 4 singles. The checkin process was easy and staff at Shoreline were helpful with any questions we had.

The Woodlands was the cutest little house tucked just outside of Saugatuck. Super close to town yet far enough away to feel like you're not in the city. We will definitely be back!

House was sparkling clean and well-appointed. Beautiful back patio and seating area to have a fire and enjoy each other's company. You can, however, hear the faint roar of the 196 Interstate while sitting on the back patio.

I was originally looking for houses in Saugatuck to be able to walk to the beach, but those were super expensive. It would have been a mistake, as it turned out, because one must drive to the Oval Beach anyways, even if living in Saugatuck. So I wouldn't recommend looking for something closer, it was a perfect little drive to do and the rent was about half the prices I have seen. The house's location is perfect for both sightseeing and going to the beach. The people I interacted with from the agency were very helpful, they listened to all requests we had, and it was a great experience of communication. The house is very adorable, the furnishing is in style, there are lots of decorations everywhere, very tasteful and brings a good atmosphere to the place. The garden is facing a forest and is towards West, so we could see the sunset from the terrasse. The kitchen was super well equipped, better than the one I have at home. I was really amazed by some household solutions every here and there which I would actually adopt into my own.

We had a lovely stay in the woodland cottage. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with Dishes And cookware. We enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders as we sat at the dinning table. On a rainy night we put together a jig saw puzzle. Sometime it would be nice to come back in warmer weather and take advantage of the campfire and gazebo.
