INSIDE THE HOME

This updated home has it all -- walk to downtown Douglas yet nestled in a private wooded setting with decks and a fire pit. The open concept floor plan offers lots of natural light and everything on one floor. This modern home has an energetic vibe – colorful, fun, and filled with curated art pieces from around the world from the owners’ travels. The modern décor mixes perfectly with mid-century modern accents, giving this vacation home a one-of-a-kind feel. For those who appreciate design, Ligne Roset and Herman Miller furniture are perfectly at home next to fun vintage finds from local antique stores.
The comfortable and spacious living room overlooks the beautifully landscaped front yard and is open to the kitchen and dining room. The fully equipped kitchen features all new and high-quality stainless steel appliances including a gas range, a full-sized refrigerator, a dishwasher, plenty of pots and pans, dishes, and utensils as well as generous counter space for those who love to cook. As an added bonus, the kitchen and dining room look out into the forest so if you are lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the family of deer, wild turkeys, or crows that call the forest home while prepping breakfast or lunch!
The bedrooms are split up for utmost comfort -- the Main bedroom with an adjoining bathroom are on one side of the home and two guest rooms with another full bath with tub on the other giving everyone a little privacy. The home features beautiful new wood floors throughout and has central heating, AC, and ceiling fans for your comfort as well as a full laundry room off of the kitchen.

Step down into the professionally landscaped backyard to enjoy the fire pit and Adirondack chairs while surrounded by gorgeous majestic evergreens. Beyond the fire pit, take a stroll through our private walking path into our forest. Multiple outdoor seating areas mean plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy some quiet time. You will also find a charcoal grill and an enclosed garage where we keep multiple bicycles onsite for your enjoyment.

Parking: Our attached garage provides parking for 2 cars, and our driveway provides parking for up to 3 cars.

THE LOCATION

The quaint town of Douglas is just a short 10-15 minute walk from the house, where you will find several great restaurants, bars, art galleries, and boutiques, as well as access to kayaking. You are also a stone’s throw from the local grocery store, and two wonderful artisanal food markets (The Farmhouse Deli and Isabel’s Market). Douglas Beach is a 5-minute drive west of the house, and the bustling town of Saugatuck is also just minutes by car or a short bike ride away. Fruit farms in nearby Fennville offer a fun summer/fall activity for families and for those who are active, there is plenty to do in both summer and winter: hiking the Saugatuck Dunes State Park year-round, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, or taking a pontoon boat out on the Kalamazoo River in summer/fall and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in winter are among some of the more popular activities.

This was our first time in the Douglas/Saugatuck area so we were not sure how convenient our location would be when we booked this house. We were thrilled to find that we were minutes to everything! You could walk to the quaint little town of Douglas or ride one of the bikes that were available at the house. The house was nicely laid out with wonderful amenities. We enjoyed the back deck and fire pit, but make sure you load up on the bug spray because the bugs are bad this time of year. There is a grill but be sure to bring charcoal because it is not a propane grill. We actually grilled our hamburgers over the open fire by using a grate that was available near the grill. We only used the two bedrooms with the queen beds. The beds have a mattress but no box spring and are very hard. That was something that we had trouble adjusting to but it was only for 5 nights and everything else about the property was wonderful!

We had a great stay with 5 adults and 1 child. Enjoyed using the back deck for lunch and dinner and the fire pit at night. Walking distance to grocery store and other restaurants and shopping.

This house was perfect. Small, but perfect for 4 adults and 2 kids. Perfect distance to town and oval beach. They had a handful of bikes that you can take and watch sunset on the bluffs. The outdoor space was perfect and super private. We felt at home and will definitely come back.

Great little vacation home close to everything. Easy walk to Downtown Douglas. Short 5 minute drive to Saugatuck. Grocery is just around the corner. It is in close proximity to ice cream shop, brewery, few restaurants and a convenience store. House is a little on the small side but has good function and 3 bedrooms which our family needed. Front stairs really need some reinforcement and the rear deck needs some work but the inside of house was recently remodeled and done very well. Would not hesitate to use this home for our next visit. Process for booking, check in and check out was very easy.

It is a nice, clean home in an excellent location! It is decorated in bright, unique decor, and all rooms are spacious. We traveled with four adults and three children, and it was plenty of space. The beds are all very comfortable. The location is perfect. It is only minutes from Oval Beach and the incredibly charming town of Saugutuck. It is also a short driving distance from Holland and South Haven. The entire trip exceeded our expectations, and we will return!

This house is so lovely and worked perfectly for our family. It's just a beautiful house and so close to everything so we could walk to the store and to food and just all around. The back porch is perfect for sitting out with coffee and there is a lovely wooded path in the back that's fun to walk around. Would absolutely stay here again. It was our first time staying in Douglas instead of Saugatuck and I think I might prefer that in the future because it was so peaceful and serene. Wonderful home.

Very clean rooms and very cute decor. We were supplied with exactly what we need to enjoy our stay. The yard is beautiful and the back deck is a great hangout spot at the end of the day to wind down after exploring the nearby towns. Honestly, the wooded area was so pretty and calming. I was impressed by the welcome packet that Jaqua provided, which has all kinds of brochures with local hot-spots, hiking, shopping, eating, etc.
