The 4th of July is just around the corner! Regardless of where you’re staying along the lakeshore, there are plenty of activities to enjoy during the holiday weekend. To assist you in planning, we’ve compiled a list of events happening in South Haven and Saugatuck/Douglas.

 

South Haven

Runners on your mark, get set, go! Al-Van’s Firecracker Furry 5K starts at 8am on Saturday, July 1st at Kid’s Corner Park. The event also has a Paws on Parade one mile walk. Make sure to register early! All registration money goes to the Al-Van Humane Society.  

 

South Haven’s Art Fair will take place at Stanley Johnston Park from 10am-5pm on Saturday, July 1st and from 10am-4pm, Sunday, July 2nd. The two-day event features a variety of arts including painting, drawings, glass, jewelry, and more!

 

Stop by the Farm Market on Saturday, July 1st and pick up some things for a cookout! The market runs from 8am-2pm and features meats, cheeses, herbs, flowers, fresh produce and more. 

 

Light Up the Lake fireworks will take place at dusk on July 3rd. View the show from Riverfront Park or at North & South Beaches. 

 

What’s the 4th of July without a parade? The 4th of July parade kicks off at 11am and steps off from South Haven High school. Featuring floats, marching bands and more, the parade will move through downtown.

Saugatuck

Showcasing the work of 60 artists working in a variety of media, the Waterfront Invitational Fine Art Fair is the place for art enthusiasts to be on Saturday, July 1st. The fair is from 9am-5pm and will be taking place at Saugatuck Village Square. Proceeds will go to scholarships for students studying the arts and will support the arts in Saugatuck/Douglas. Admission is free! 

 

For a beautiful way to start your Saturday (July 1st), come do yoga in the lavender fields and gardens at Summerhouse Lavender Farm. All yoga levels are welcome and mats are provided. Make sure to register before it fills up! Registration is $20. 

 

Pick up some fresh produce and more for your cookout at The Market At SCA on Tuesday, July 4th! The market runs from 10am-2pm so you’ll have time to stop by before the parade. 

 

Speaking of parades, the 4th of July Parade starts at noon and marches down Butler Street. Featuring members of the armed forces, marching bands, floats, and more, parades are fun for the whole family. 

 

Let’s not forget about the fireworks! Kicking off at dusk, there’ll be fireworks and laser light shows in Saugatuck and Douglas. Grab a blanket, chair, and snacks and head to Cook Park, Coghlin Park, Wade’s Bayou, and Wick’s Park and enjoy the show!
