Soak up the last month of summer on the lakeshore! There are a lot of things happening in Saugatuck/Douglas in August that you don’t want to miss. To help with planning, we’ve compiled a list of a few events that are taking place. 

 

South Haven

 

South Haven Farm Market Wednesdays & Saturdays

Pick up some fresh produce, meats, cheese, herbs, flowers, and more at the farm market. The market features West Michigan farmers and will run through the month on Wednesdays & Saturdays from 8am-2pm.

 

The National Blueberry Festival Aug. 10th-13th

The festival takes place on the second weekend of August to celebrate the blueberry crop South Haven has each year. Featuring a craft fair, a 5k walk/run, live music, and more, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! 

 

Yoga on the Water Aug. 18th, 9am-10am

Start your morning outside along the  waterfront with some yoga. Yoga instructor Laurie Hogan-McLean will teach the class at the Michigan Maritime Museum. Admission is $10 per person at the door. 

 

The Wonder Bread Years Aug. 19th, 7:30pm

Pat Hazell will take the stage at Listiak Auditorium. The comedy show will touch on his past with nostalgic and clean humor. It’s a perfect blend of stand up comedy and theater. Doors open at 7pm and tickets start at $15. 

 

Rock the Boat Aug. 25th, 6:30pm-9:30pm

Get ready to rock! Michigan Maritime Museum will be hosting the 2nd annual concert with the 80’s cover band “The 1985”. Proceeds from the event will go to the museum. Food will be available on site and there will be a cash bar serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Don’t forget to dress accordingly for the weather as the event will take place rain or shine! Tickets start at $15 online.

Saugatuck/Douglas

 

Summer Market Tuesdays & Fridays

Come out and support the seasonal market featuring West Michigan farmers! Enjoy a wide assortment of fresh produce, meats, cheese, baked goods, and more. The market will run through the month on Tuesdays (10am-2pm) and Fridays (9am-3pm).

 

Jersey Boys Aug. 11th – Sept. 3rd

Tony and Grammy award winning Jersey Boys takes you behind the scenes and music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The musical tells the true story of the four young men who became a musical symbol of a generation. With chart-topping hits like “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”,  and “Oh, What a Night”, you won’t want to miss this! Tickets start at $25.

 

Douglas Dutchers Vintage Base Ball Club Game Aug. 12th, 2pm

Cheer on the Douglas Dutchers as they take on the South Haven Bark Peelers! Sporting events have taken place on Beery Field since the 1860s and the club was formed to promote historical education in the community through a vintage setting.

 

Annual Sidewalk & Studio Sale Aug. 17th, 9am-5pm

Sponsored by the Saugatuck Douglas Area Business Association, the one-day sale will be held in downtown Saugatuck on Butler, Hoffman, and Mason Streets. Local shops will take to the streets to sell clothing, jewelry, art, and more with marked down prices!

 

Summer Sounds at Waypost Brewing Co Aug. 26th, 1pm-9pm 

Enjoy some live music and craft beer on the patio at Waypost Brewing Co. The Clarke, Reed, & Meadows trio will play at 1pm and The Bart Attacks will go on later in the afternoon. Tastebudz food truck will be onsite serving up some tasty food.
